Copaiba Essential Oil is a less known oil. If we are being honest, I did not have a clue what to do with it for quite a while. And it just sat. Sat in the cupboard, where I did not do anything with it. I promise you, however, that any essential oil that you purchase has an amazing purpose. So don’t let them sit! Ask a friend, do a google search, find a way to use it! Even this little less known oil, Copaiba, has a marvelous purpose!
Making Copaiba Essential Oil
Copaiba, or Copaifera officinalis, comes from the Balsam Copaiba tree in Brazil. The oil is steam distilled from the gum resin of the tree. As you might imagine, this oil smells particularly woodsy, but it is not nearly as strong as the oil from an evergreen tree. It is a very soft, woodsy scent that is, in my opinion, particularly pleasing and soothing.
Using Copaiba Essential Oil
Copaiba is high in Beta-caryophyllene which is a terpene. This can bind to the CB2 receptors in the immune and nervous systems to help support your bodily functions. This allows Copaiba to be an emotional support and immune support oil.
One of my favorite ways to use Copaiba Essential Oil is to mix 1-2 drops each of Copaiba, Lavender, and Cedarwood in a diffuser. This is one of my go-to blends for sleep promotion in our household! Copaiba is also a wonderful oil to massage into the skin to help them relax after a long day on the move. It can be especially amazing when mixed with PanAway. It is also a wonderful oil to apply directly to your skin to promote healthy, glowing skin. I especially like to mix Copaiba with Frankincense for this purpose.
If you purchase the Copaiba Vitality, this version of Copaiba is labeled for internal use according to FDA regulations. It is wonderful to mix it in with your teas or NingXia Red to add additional immune support for your body. You can also dilute with a carrier oil and rub on a child’s gums for teething support.
Products Containing Copaiba Essential Oil
A 5mL bottle of Copaiba Essential Oil comes with your Young Living Premium Starter Kit. You can also purchase 5mL bottles of Copaiba Vitality and 15mL of Copaiba Essential Oil individually through your Young Living member or retail account.
There are several blends which contain Copaiba, as well. Stress Away is one of my favorite blends containing Copaiba. All Moms need Stress Away! It is also in the Breathe Again Roll On. Furthermore, Young Living has a Copaiba Vanilla Shampoo and Conditioner set that smells amazing. I really enjoy using this shampoo and conditioner combo for both the scent and healthy hair benefits.
