There are an abundance of essential oils out there and it is often overwhelming to understand how to use said essential oils. So I want to cover the different essential oils and give you practical tips on how to use them. One very versatile essential oil is Orange. Orange essential oil can be used for cleaning, to whiten teeth, reduce skin blemishes, lift your emotions, and more. So here are a few simple ways to use it today.
There is nothing like the smell of clean, fresh air. Mix up a spray bottle with orange essential oil and spritz it around a room or diffuse it in your diffuser to produce a clean fresh scent. Additionally, the orange spray is perfect when combined with lavender and cedarwood to make a fresh, calm linen spray which brings about some serious zzz’s for the young and old every night.
Put a drop or two of Orange VitalityTM essential oil on your toothbrush and scrub thoroughly. This will help whiten your teeth naturally, while also freshening your breath. You can also use Orange VitalityTM in a homemade whitening mouthwash, found in a separate post here.
Orange essential oil can be added to your facial products or diluted and applied to your skin to reduce blemishes. In fact, Young Living has an Orange Blossom Facial Wash and Orange Blossom Moisturizer that I LOVE and works wonders. So if you’re not up for making your own facial and skincare products, be sure to check out those products! Please note that orange is photosensitive, which means it is important that you do not have sun exposure after using orange essential oil on your skin. For this reason, I use orange essential oil in the evening when I am turning in for the night to avoid this problem.
Orange VitalityTM essential oil is safe for consumption. So all those goodies that you are making that would go great with orange? Just add a drop or two of Orange VitalityTM essential oil and that sweet, tangy orange taste will come right out. Perfect to add to popsicles, glazes, smoothies and more.
Orange essential oil is naturally a very happy, fresh smell. This is perfect to boost your emotions and give you a pick me up if you are tired or unmotivated. In fact, orange is one of my favorites due to its happy, uplifting scent which can be combined in so many different ways during the different seasons. While you can use Orange in the many different oily manners, my favorite for orange essential oil is to diffuse it. Based on the combinations, you can make it reflect the different seasons. You’re probably laughing at me right now. But…no really, I’m serious, here are some examples!
Spring makes me think of life. When all the grasses, trees, and flowers spring back into life. So to welcome spring, I love filling my house with beautiful blossoming scents. Orange essential oil combines magnificently with floral scents such as jasmine, geranium, lavender, and rose. These combinations are uplifting, energizing, and emotionally stabilizing.
When I think of summer, I immediately think about fun in the sun with popsicles, fresh fruit, and somehow – citrus. I have no idea why. I grew up in Colorado and I live in Alaska. Not much citrus anything around. But…I think of citrus when I think of summer. And I do not think I’m alone in this! So how do you make a summer scent? You take orange and you combine it any other citrus scent you can get your hands on. DELICIOUS, summer, happy scents all around! And what’s more is that all of these oils are energy boosting, as well as helpful for clarity and emotional support. Can we say happy profitable days? AMAZING.
During the fall I think earthy blends. It’s when the harvests are pulled in, and when the spices come out for all the pies. And orange essential oil is perfectly complimented by these. Frankincense is one of my favorite earthy aromas, and it blends perfectly with orange. Similarly many of the spicy blends also go along perfectly with it – cloves, cinnamon, nutmeg, cardamom, and ginger. Combined in these manners you will have amazing blends that are immune supporting and calming – such a perfect collaboration of oils as the weather turns cool and the germs seem to multiply. In my Fall Diffuser Blends post, I posted a few recipes – be sure to check it out!
While the spicy blends mentioned above similarly morph into winter, another winter scent is mint. Eeeeverything mint and pine. Candy canes, mint tea, and Christmas trees. And orange essential oil blends so perfectly with these, as well. (Really, as I think about it, I’m not sure you can get a more versatile oil. Okay, maybe you can. Point is – experiment… You probably won’t go wrong!) I love combining orange with peppermint, spearmint, pine, or spruce to remind me of Christmas and prancing through winter wonderlands.
So now you know a little bit more about Orange essential oil. I’m so glad you joined me on this journey! Now I’m off to create some orange recipes. Till next time!!
