Essential oils for potty training. Now before you get all excited, there is no oil that is going to magically train your child. Sorry. (I know, I was disappointed too.) But there are oils that can aid you and your child to have a better experience with what can be a stressful life event. You could be surprised though, it could go much smoother than you expected! I’ve definitely had some of my kids just “get it” way faster than I expected. So before I share about essential oils for potty training, I did want to leave you with that little piece of encouragement.
Cleaning Blend
Potty training means accidents. Whether your child catches on to potty training fast or not, there will be accidents. There really is no way around it. Having a good natural cleaner on hand is absolutely essential. I use the Thieves Cleaner which can be found in the Thieves Premium Starter Kit or purchased individually. It cleans super well, eliminates odors, and smells amazing. It’s also toxin free, so I can have my children assist me in the clean up tasks without wondering if I’m opposing them to harmful chemicals. Please note: I don’t make them clean up as a punishment. We clean it up together, have fun, and talk about how we want the mess to go in the toilet not on the floor. All of my kids have thought this part was really cool and catch on quickly how we don’t want puddles on the floor but instead want it in the toilet.
Mommy-Calm Blend
Even if the potty training is going more smoothly than I expected, it is still has at least some element of stress. I always make sure that I have Stress Away or White Angelica essential oils rubbed on my skin and on a piece of diffuser jewelry. It helps me stay calm in the moments where I get frustrated.
Kiddo-Calm Blend
I find this to possibly be on of the most important types of essential oils for potty training. Potty training can be a rather stunning and traumatic turn of events for a child. Having emotional support essential oils available for the child can make all the difference in the world. I personally love Gentle Baby and Lavender for this use.
Kiddo-Focus Blend
It can be easy for a child to get distracted and simply forget about the fact that they are potty training. (It’s one of the reasons we don’t do any electronics during the first few days of potty training! You can read more about this in my practical tips for potty training post.) Having an oil blend that helps the child focus is crucial. I personally love KidScents’ GeneYus for this purpose. GeneYus can also be emotional grounding support!
The Relaxing Blend
Sometimes it can be difficult for a child to relax their muscles when sitting on the toilet the first few times. A drop of Peppermint or Lavender oils inside the toilet bowl can help them relax in order for them to actually be able to go potty.
Essential Oils for Potty Training
Just like with most things, essential oils do not solve all the problems. They can, however, make daily events just a little bit easier, smoother, and calmer. I certainly would not want to potty train without essential oils, and I hope that these tips can also make your life just a little simpler, as well!
